10 Weeks Post Relaxer & My Latest Regimen

It’s been ten weeks since my last relaxer!

For those of you asking, “so what?!”  This is a big deal for me.  I thought I’d be itching to make a salon appointment.  But, I’m doin’ just fine.  However, this process isn’t without some challenging moments.  As my roots get thicker, combing gets tougher.  Check out my latest regimen below.

A Dominican salon may be able to help you with your roots. You can get a wash and set and then have them blow your roots straight. Maribels on Flatbush Avenue & Stephens Court in Brooklyn is a good place to start. I have natural hair too and they can make your natural hair look like its permed even though its not. Hope this helps and good luck on the rest of your natural hair journey.

Try an ACV rinse. It makes the roots more manageable.

Love the hair. 10 weeks is a long time.
Good job. I agree, I rarely go to the salon now except to get a trim so probably about twice a year. Maybe 3 or 4. Now that I can do my own hair, it seems crazy having someone else do it for me.

Since I’ve been going natural, I’ve become a little more picky with letting people touch my hair. They don’t know my hair like I do.

WAM, ACV= apple cider vinegar, something you already know how to use 🙂 Good luck on your hair journey. I was watching you a few days ago and thinking that your edges didn’t look all that natural. Now I know your secret!

Stacy, your hair looks great! The Argan Morrocan Oil line is really good to prevent heat damage as well. Where did you get the blow dryer from? I use the blow dryer comb too. Do you ever leave your hair curly after washing it or do prefer straightening it?

Thanks Rach! I do use Argan oil. I love it because it’s not heavy. I got my blow dryer from Sears, but you may be able to get a deal on Amazon. I had to buy the comb from Amazon for a few bucks. My hair won’t curl unless I do a twist out because I still have a lot of relaxer left. I hate having to straighten. It’s so much work.

It gets easier. I’m not saying it’s a breeze, but you’ll discover ways to make your hair work for you. I am an on-air reporter and I began the transitioning process a years and three months ago. Products like Carol’s Daughter’s Olive Oil Infusion Kit, the Chocolat Smoothing Cream and many of their others have helped soften and tame my tresses. After a while you’ll be amazed at how your hair repsonds to a blow out or even ocassional use of a flat iron on medium heat levels! Good luck. I wish more women in broadcast would take this journey.
