My True Indian Hair Do

I’ve been toying with the idea of wiggin’ it for a while.  As I continue on my natural journey, I know styling will become a challenge.  I’ve already written about some of my hair issues, and it’s only been three months post relaxer.  I have a long way to go before my hair is completely natural.  So, I’ve been researching protective styling options.  This weekend I finally made the decision to go in for a wig fitting.

A friend from work told me about True Indian Hair .  I met with the owner, Karen Mitchell, for a consultation.  I know absolutely nothing about how to choose the right wig, and Ms. Mitchell put me right at ease.  The first thing I noticed was her sweet demeanor.  She certainly has a knack for making people feel comfortable, and also knows her stuff.  Ms. Mitchell recommended different options, and gave me tips on how to style my new do.  She said that each wig should last six months.  But based on the soft texture, I wouldn’t be surprised if it lasts much longer than that.

Since I’ll be transitioning, a wig will make things easier.  I won’t have to choose between working out and keeping my hair TV ready.  As you know, my job doesn’t offer much flexibility when it comes to my hair.  The plan is to wig it as I transition.

Here are some wigs I tried on.  Which one do you like best?  Keep in mind that I’ll be cutting and styling the wig similar to the way I normally wear my hair.  So far, my hubby likes the first one the best.  Please tell me your pick in the comments section below.

Stay tuned later this week to see the final look.

ALWAYS trust the hubby- smart man. I agree with him> 1st one. (but then again, with your pretty face, everything looks good!).

I’d go with #1 for every day work use, but I would also consider getting #2 for days off and when you want to change it up. I rocked the #2 in extensions while I transitioned and absolutely loved it. Maintence is easier than most people think. Spray it with water, use Mixed Chicks conditioner and finger comb when you want it curly. If it’s real you can also straigten it, too, then wet it again when you want the curls back.

No matter what you decide you’ll look gorgous. I’m so excited for you!

I prefer the 3rd one. It looks more natural.

I like the third one best. Over time it will probably look less shinier. Out of the three it also looks less “wiggy” on the top where the part is so I say the 3rd one. Good luck!!

I definitely like the third one better. But I agree, the first one looks more like your natural hair and would probably be your best bet for maintaining your current look.

I think the picture makes it look a bit shinier than I remember. I also think it fits my face well. They’re all great! I’m in love with the 2nd one too! Decisions, Decisions!

I like the first one too! But I love them all! Will you be able to put heat on them? I want to go back to wiggin it so I can let my hair be crazy underneath. haha. Remind me how long these last again…

Oh man! Everyone’s going for that one. I guess to be realistic I should go with that one. It’s human hair and I believe it’s virgin. It should last at least 6 months or so. I’m gonna share I’ve learned so far about wigs in a video post later! Wiggin’ it ain’t a bad idea. You may save in the long run. lol
