I Finally Did the Big Chop!

It’s been almost 8 months since I began my natural journey and I’ve been dealing with lots of shedding. I had to get rid of my relaxed ends once and for all.

If you asked me a year ago about cutting my hair off, I would have said hail naw!!!! Never say never! Have you ever done something you thought you never would?

lol I’m loving the this especially the part where you were a little freaked out in the beginning. I have to give it to your better half though for being so patient with your mini melt down.

You look GORGEOUS with your new haircut. Haha, I remember when I did the big chop about 10 months ago (I went to a salon), and I visibly cringed every time the hairdresser snipped off a segment of my damaged, relaxed hair. Yes, my hair was short at the end of it, but I felt so liberated- it was as if I was truly seeing myself for the first time in about 12 years (I started getting relaxers when I was 6). So rock your new hairdo with pride because it looks lovely on you, and I know you’ll enjoy the process of getting reacquainted with your natural hair.

And lol you and your husband are so cute. I was giggling the whole time when he was about to cut your hair.

Congratulations! Like you, I’ve been transitioning for 8 months. I’m still not ready to BC, but I was inspired by your previous post when you were contemplating doing the BC. So, this weekend I cut off another 2 inches from my hair. My husband is also white and he’s always saying to me, “Give me the scissors! I like your curls. I’ll cut off all the rest!” I haven’t let him yet, but I’m definitely going to show him this video. Tell your husband he did a good job.

Good for you! My hubby did my BC too, and it was great – and yes, it will grow back so incredibly fast(and healthy!).
