We Had a Minor Set Back in Our Christmas Preparation

These last couple of weeks have been crazy to say the least. In between working and studying for exams, I’ve been trying to arrange Christmas preparation with the family. I had the perfect plan in place. But the man upstairs decided to throw some curve balls our way, which set us back.

I had it all figured out. I’d get a jump start on studying, complete my exams early – leaving time for holiday shopping, decorating, and taking part in Christmas activities.

The first thing on the agenda – put up our Christmas tree and decorate the house. My hubby would get it out of storage and Princess and I would add the trimmings, while Young O watched from the sidelines. The kids would then have lunch, take a nap, and later take holiday photos. But, things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

Getting the tree up was easy enough, but adding the lights was a whole other story. The darn thing wouldn’t light up! We had to remove it and investigate the problem. It was a simple fix, but it took an eternity to wrap the lights back around the tree. By the time we figured it out and added the ornaments, it was already after noon.

My hubby wanted to take advantage of nap time and made a quick run to the store. He was only gone for about an hour and a half. Once we returned home, the kids were up and getting dressed. We were pretty good on time until Young O decided to throw a fit. He’s been getting over a bug, so his reluctance to take photos came at no surprise.

On the other hand, his big sister was camera ready and excited to take Christmas photos.

The sun began to set by the time Young O calmed down, which meant having to reschedule our shoot. We put the kibosh on the other stuff we had planned for the day. But that’s okay. There is still plenty of time to do everything, including holiday photos. If for some reason we don’t get them out on time, we can always send them out as New Year pictures.

    Hi,
I found your blog and loved it. I was looking to see if you had any post on dolls. I want to get my daughter her first doll and was curious to what you did for a first doll.
    Thank you.
