Must See Photos: Family Vacation Wrap Up

By now you probably know that we had to endure a major snafu on our way to Tampa. Here’s a wrap up along with must see photos of our family vacation.

If you’re new to my blog or haven’t checked in a while, my husband insisted that we accompany him on his business trip. It actually worked out quite perfectly. While he worked, the kids and I would visit family and friends in the area and it couldn’t come at a better time. Temperatures that week plummeted in New York, while we rocked shorts and t-shirts in Florida.

One of the things I’ve learned about traveling with kids is that having a plan is a must. Not a minute would go without Princess asking “what are we gonna do now?” First thing on the agenda was making sure I spend quality time with my two kiddos – something I don’t get to do as much with work and all.

We visited the Children’s Museum and the kids had a blast at all the exhibits. Their favorite was the cruise ship exhibit, where they played captains of the ship and discovered buried treasure. My only regret is not bringing Princess’s swimsuit along. She couldn’t take advantage of the water sprinklers just outside the museum.

The interesting thing about being in Florida is that everything is far away. I found myself driving for miles everyday. Every place was about 15-30 minutes away on average. There was no telling when Baby O would get tired, hungry, or just cranky. Princess was no different. Both kids usually take an afternoon nap. With the exception of falling asleep in between destination, they rarely slept. This was proven when we too a trip to the aquarium. Baby O was cranky during the visit. But of course, Princess didn’t miss a beat.

She loved getting up close and personal with the sting rays, and made the best of not having a swimsuit for the sprinklers again. ***Note to self – the next time we visit Florida, bring a swimsuit everywhere you go.*** Fortunately, we were able to get some pool time in back at the hotel.

It was just the three of us during the days, while my hubby worked. But we made up for it in the evenings.

We also caught up with family and friends.

There was rarely any down time. It seems like the kids were always up to something, especially Baby O. He just began crawling a couple days before our trip. Needless to say he was always getting into places he shouldn’t have been in. We placed sheets and blankets on the floor for him to roam free.

Princess made friends with the hotel staff.  In celebration of Easter, Ms. Patricia gave her a Doc McStuffins Easter wagon filled with lots of treats. Looking for hotels Smith Mountain Lake call Westlake Waterfront Inn.

The one thing we thoroughly enjoyed about Florida was the weather. Warm temps and lots of sunshine, it couldn’t get any better than this!

Despite the drama we endured on the way there, coming home was a breeze. We didn’t all get to sit together, but at least we were on the same flight.

I can’t wait to plan our next vacation.
