Most days Princess requests her curly girl hairstyle, which is pretty much a wash-and-go with some sort of hair accessory.
But recently she’s been requesting hair like Elsa from Frozen.
I’ll just do a simple braid to fulfill her request. I may even get a little fancy and braid it off to the side like the photo above. She usually has a hard time holding still while I style her hair, especially during the detangling process. On the days when she has a bit more patience, I like to mix it up a bit.
I took the Elsa inspired braid a little further by cane rowing her hair to the side from front to back. Here’s how it turned out.
Here are three easy steps for achieving the Elsa inspired Braid:
1. Spray and detangle her hair. Curly hair tends to get tangled pretty easily. I find it easier if the hair is sprayed with water mixed with a little leave-in conditioner (or any other styling product of your choice). Finger detangling works best. But of you decide to use a comb, make sure it’s a wide tooth comb.
2. Pick the side you want the braid to lay and smooth out the hair starting from the root. Some may use a brush, but I prefer a rat-tail comb. Once the hair is fully detangled, you don’t have to worry about adding stress to your tresses buy using it. (Note:I wouldn’t recommend detangling with a rat-tail comb)
3. Start braiding. If you’re not familiar with this type of braid, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube. When braiding Princess hair, I’m extremely careful not to braid too tight. In fact, I think the style looks better when it’s a bit loose. I also use the rat-tail comb to continue smoothing the hair as I braid.
Once you’ve completed the braid, add accessories. Princess chose a simple clip at the end of the braid. This style should stay in place throughout the entire day. Even with a busy day filled with play and nap time, she arrives home with this hair do still in tact.
What do you think about this style?
