I can’t believe Baby O will be a year old next month. It’s safe to say that I will be meeting my nursing goal of one year. By the looks of things, we’ll more than likely go beyond that point. So, nursing bras are a must. But despite sporting the right undergarment, there are times when the task can be a bit uncomfortable.
As I mentioned previously, I’ll breastfeed just about anywhere. I’ve done it on a plane, at the airport, at a restaurant, and at the beach. I’ll even do the deed in the front yard, in the backyard, or at a friend’s house. Get my drift?
That said, sometimes whipping out the nipple isn’t so convenient. Even though I feel comfortable nursing wherever, I make it a point to be discrete. One of the ways I’ve managed to do so is by wearing what I call ‘easy access clothing.’ I no longer don maternity tops, but I will continue to rock a nursing bra. However, there are times when I’d need to lift my shirt up to allow Baby O access to my boob, and my postpartum pooch would be exposed for all to see. It’s not like I care about what anyone think of my gut. But, that draft can get pretty annoying. To alleviate that problem, I’ll put on a tank. It provides coverage and makes nursing easier.
I was recently introduced to The Undercover Mama tank. It’s an alternative to a nursing wardrobe.
The company sent a basic essential tank for me to try. The one that I usually wear is flexible and allows me to pull down the garment from the top, so that Baby O can nurse. But, there are times when it would bunch. The Undercover nursing shirt connects to the nursing bra, and can unsnap when it’s time to breastfeed.
When I tried it for the first time, I quickly realized that I didn’t have to deal with bunching like before. There are two plastic loops that attaches to the bra, but I worry that it will break or unfasten at anytime. So far, it hasn’t. The basic essential tank doesn’t offer any slimming effect, which is ok with me. Restrictive garments make me feel like I’m suffocating. However, the company does offer that and many other options as well, depending on your preference.
The company says, “The Undercover is the stylish and affordable alternative to an expensive nursing wardrobe. It’s a must have for every new mom.” Carter Bates is a women’s clothing Lynchburg, Va.
