My Baby’s Big Accomplishment

It’s become a routine. I get home late from work, and Baby O is normally up within a half hour screaming his head off. It’s as if he knows when I get home. I’m barely out of the shower, and he’s ready to devour my boobs. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit. But, you get what I’m saying. This little guy is ready to nurse. However, last night he threw me for a loop – in a good way. My baby accomplished something he hasn’t done before. He slept through the night alone in his crib for the first time.

I usually call during my shift to check in on the kids. This time I noticed during our video chat that Baby O seemed a bit distressed. He was clearly tired. My hubby later told me that he put him in the crib around 9:30pm. Baby O fell asleep and didn’t wake up until seven the next morning.

This has got to be the first time in almost a year that I got a decent night’s rest. Normally we’d fall asleep together, while Daddy sleeps on the couch. For the record, Baby O is a restless sleeper. He kicks. He hits. He’s all over the place. I’ve had to kick him out of the bed a few times because of the abuse. Despite those issues, our sleeping arrangement had actually been working well for us. But, now I’m ready for a permanent change.

I don’t want to jinx anything. But now that Baby O is sleeping through the night, I’m looking forward to getting back to our old sleeping arrangements. I must say this is bitter sweet. I miss co-sleeping with him already.
