How to Help Your Kids Set New Year Goals

I love putting together fun projects with my kids. Not only is it fun to get them involved, it also gets them thinking. Plus, it allows them the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing. Here’s how you can help your kids set New Year goals.

You may be wondering, how on earth can a 17-month-old come up with goals for the New Year. Well, Princess and I have found a way to improvise. Be sure to watch the video below to see how.

My mother used to sit us down at the end of the year to discuss goals for the upcoming new year. Now that I’m a parent, I want to carry on that same tradition.

I share five easy steps on how to help your kids set goals for the New Year on my BabyCenter blog. In a nutshell, make it a fun exercise. There’s no sense in forcing them to participate, if they’re not interested.

I use an informal technique with my kids. Princess is usually playing with toys or getting ready for bed. Sometimes we talk about goals while taking a shower. As far as her little brother is concerned, we just follow his lead and work from there.

Once we’ve chosen our goals, we write it all down, and put them away in a safe place. You can also record the conversation and keep the video as a keepsake.
