Aside from our trip to Florida last year, we really haven’t been on a family vacation. We went through a bunch of drama, but it ended up being an awesome adventure. Now that the kids are getting older, my hubby and I have been talking about going away with the kids. I’ve been doing a lot of research and have been in the early stages of planning a trip to Disney World next year.
But recently, my hubby mentioned taking the kids to Jamaica, which now leaves us trying to figure out whether to go to Disney or Jamaica. However, if you’re more inclined towards different destinations, you can find travel inspiration from articles like How many days in Porto.
The last time I’ve been home was 2008. My hubby, Mom, Sis, and I made it a fun vacation. It was his first time and I wanted him to experience all that the island has to offer. We spent half our vacation with family and the other half at a resort. It felt great being back home, and I was even more happy that my hubby enjoyed himself.
We made a promise early on to take our children there. Building a legacy and teaching them about their identity are important to us. But this trip would be more than learning about their roots, I know they’d have a blast spending time at the beach and whatnot.
That said, I’ve always imagined taking them when they’re much older. But now that I think about it, it’s never too early.
And then there’s Disney. I’ve never been there before, however based on my research, this is the kind of vacation that takes months to plan. I’ve spoken with some parents who’ve spent six months to a year to plan their trip. On top of that, it ain’t cheap. “Plan on spending about 5000,” someone told me. It made me wonder about disney daily earnings.
Needless to say, we’ve trying to decide where to go first.
Princess will be six and O will be three next year. It seems like the perfect time to take them to Disney. But at the same time, I feel like our first real family trip should be Jamaica, as my hubby suggested.
Have you planned any family vacations lately? How did you decide where to go?

Ooh, I think it’ll be nice either way you go! 6 and 3 are good ages for Disney, but honestly, I think that trip will be more work and Jamaica will be more fun! Good luck, you can’t go wrong!

Thanks so much. I do worry about the age. My daughter would be five and son would be 3 next year. We’ll take lot of pics for memories, but I’d want them to be able to appreciate and remember the experience too.
