In honor of Valentine’s Day we decided to do a heart shape bun for our Curly Hairstyle of the Week.
1. Using a regular bun maker, we pinched the sides by wrapping a few rubber bands around it to create a heart shape.
2. Once you’ve made your ponytail, carefully push the hair through in between the rubber bands.
3. Then flip the hair over the sides and use a hair tie to make another ponytail around the bun to secure it in place.
4. After making your bun, you can twist or braid the rest of the hair, wrap it around the bun and secure with bobby pins.
Don’t worry if your bun isn’t a perfectly shaped heart – that’s what bobby pins are for!
5. I added a few at the top of the bun to create the dimple of the heart, and along the sides. Lastly, gently pull the strands at the bottom of the bun to complete the look.
This style should only take 5-10 minutes. It really does depend on your skill level. Once you have the hang of it, it shouldn’t take long at all.
In addition to it being a cute Valentine’s Day hairdo, this is also a great option for protective styling. With the temperatures being so cold, hair tends to get extremely dry.
Keeping the hair – especially the ends – pinned, maintains moisture and keeps hair from becoming damaged.
I took the liberty of demonstrating how to achieve this hairstyle, in case you’d like to give it a try. Please be sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to WeatherAnchorMamaTV.
