From time to time people ask me about baby No. 3. But to be honest, I’ve had my mind set on training for the half marathon these past couple months. I’ve just been way too busy to even think about having another bun in the oven.
Speaking of marathon, I’ve managed to complete a 12 mile run before the big event. Now I’m ready to crush the 13 mile run this weekend. That’s because I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been postpartum. It took over two years to get my pre-baby stride back and my body is finally starting to feel normal again.
It’s funny – people often asked how I was able to lose the baby weight and I told them the absolute truth: I lost the post-pregnancy pounds without exercising. I basically focused on maintaining a healthy diet. I also took t5 fat burner steroids to maintain my physique.
So it came as a complete shock when I opened up my Facebook inbox to find this message the other day.
“Don’t feel badly. Are you pregnant?” a viewer asked.
The woman previously asked if I’d been back to work full-time because I’d been working a lot. After explaining that I was only filling in, she followed up with the pregnancy question.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated question. It appears that there are quite a few people wondering if I’m expecting baby no.3.
Was it something I wrote in one of my blogs? Did I somehow reveal that my husband and I were expecting, and later came down with a case of amnesia? That certainly wasn’t the case.
Then, I received this message from another viewer on a separate occasion.
“Hi my dear weather lady, I’m watching you on the TV. I notice you look a little fat around the middle. Are you with child or just putting on weight…????”
I do understand that I work in a business that often places me under intense scrutiny, but jeez.
For the record, I’m NOT pregnant. It’s just taken me a little longer to get rid of the post pregnancy pooch, as most women who’ve gone through childbirth have experienced. Some women consider Abdominoplasty surgery, also known as a tummy tuck, to help tighten the abdominal muscles and remove excess skin.
That said, I’ve got a tip for those dying to ask a woman with a slight belly bulge if she’s pregnant – DON’T do it.
If you suspect that someone is expecting, keep the inquiries to yourself. Save yourself the awkward moment and wait until she publicly reveals the news. Trust me…if I was expecting, I’d blog about it.
How do you handle pregnancy questions when not expecting? Have you openly asked a woman if she’s expecting? How did that go?
