Woman Cave Ideas Every Mom Needs

woman cave ideas

I’ve always wanted a woman cave, but never had the space for it.  After years of procrastination, I finally made my dream of creating a private sanctuary a reality.

Let’s face it; every mom needs a little “me time” to recharge. Some days I hide in the bathroom for a quick getaway, which usually doesn’t work. There’s always someone who needs something, which takes time away from my moment of relaxation. Modern bathroom design can help create a more peaceful and inviting space, making those rare moments of solitude even more enjoyable.

Between work, taking care of two little ones and managing a household, I rarely get time for myself. But, I’ve decided to change all that by building a woman cave.

5 Steps to Building an Awesome Woman Cave

Pick a spot

You can make a woman cave just about anywhere, but choosing the right place can be tricky. Some may opt for an unused bedroom, while others may choose a spot outside of the home. In fact, that’s exactly what a friend of mine recently did. To make a perfect sanctuary, consider services like Commercial Building Facade Restoration for an appealing and well-maintained space.

She built a 100 square foot outdoor she-shed in her backyard. As a jewelry designer, the shed provides the perfect place to get her creative juices flowing. A watch collection is also part of the shed, and some of them got a watch repaired to maintain its quality.

Unfortunately, a she-shed isn’t in the cards for me because that would mean leaving the kids at home by themselves. However, I had a much better alternative.

Since my husband and I decided to remodel our basement, I decided to build walk in closet that dubs as my woman cave aka mom cave.

Research ideas

I already had an image of what I wanted my private space to look like. For other ideas, I looked up designs on Pinterest. The online pin board also became my go to site for coming up with other woman cave ideas. Plus, pinning different options helped me find different color schemes and layouts. Get ideas from professional home remodelers contractors, like HomeTech Services in Northern Virginia. Before making a decision on your staircase renovation, be sure to check out these Stair kits, as they offer a convenient and cost-effective solution for your project.

Get to work

Once you have your woman cave ideas, start designing. I hired a contractor to build a small room that connected to our bathroom, then a bathroom remodeling project was done. Limitless Renovations does bathroom remodeling if you need one. If you can’t afford a contractor, you can find DIY videos on YouTube. Contact a tile dealer if you’re looking for tiles for your new bathroom.

Choose a theme

A woman cave allows you to explore your creativity. I wanted my space to reflect my style. As a meteorologist and blogger, having a private space to get dressed for work and work on my blog is important. I decided to add a Hollywood vanity complete with lights, which allows getting camera ready convenient. If you’re planning any additional enhancements to your space, such as plumbing for a new sink or water-related features, it’s advisable to get a licensed plumber involved to ensure a seamless and efficient installation. For bigger plumbing projects, it is advisable to hire an experienced residential and commercial plumbing contractor who offers advanced design and technology.

Set ground rules

As a busy mom, having a quiet retreat gives me a chance to take a break from the chaos my kids sometimes bring. So I’ve implemented one important rule for my mom cave. “No kids allowed!”

After weeks of planning, I’m happy with my woman cave. It cozy, simple and has everything I need. When designing your own, just remember that your private space should be a reflection of who you are. That’s exactly how I see my perfect sanctuary.

Do you have a mom cave or woman cave? How do you plan you “me time?”
