As a meteorologist, viewers depend on me to keep them informed about weather conditions. But, believe it or not, how I dress plays a huge role in whether or not my work resonates with them. If I’m well-kept and fashionable, they’re more likely to listen to what I have to say. The same rings true no matter your profession.

Let’s face it; If you show up to work looking disheveled, chances are you appear less credible. That said, here are 3 style tips for career women.

3 Style Tips for Career Women

Do your research. In order to look the part, you must do your research. Look at what other women in your field are wearing. I wouldn’t suggested duplicating their wardrobe. It’s not cool being a copycat. But, I do suggest putting your own spin on their fashion choices. It also doesn’t hurt to ask fashionable women in your field for fashion tips. Perhaps they will recommend you pieces such as those on the sustainable womens apparel.

Know your color pallet. In a perfect world, we’d all look great in every color. However, that’s not the case. I’ve heard some women say they try to avoid yellow because it washes them out. As a women of color with a darker skin tone, I dry to avoid wearing brown. I also seldom wear black. Jewel tones tend to read better on camera, and give my complexion an added pop that muted tones don’t offer. The right watch can also be used as a fashion statement. If you’re looking to achieve a luxury look without the high price tag, best replica watches can be a great option to complete your style. You can find the best self-winding watches at Rockwell Time to show off your sense of style and personality. If you love luxury brand watches, try getting affordable replica watches made from high-quality materials that are both functional and stylish.

Know your shape and size. Wearing the wrong size could be distracting to people you work with. Most importantly, it could feel uncomfortable. You can easily avoid a fashion faux pas by wearing clothing that’s right for your figure. If you’re pear shaped, a-line and wrap dresses are great ways to balance out your figure.

If you’re apple shaped, avoid horizontal stripes because they will make you look larger. Instead, always choose lengthening vertical stripes on your dresses or tops.

For a banana shape, work on highlighting your best assets. Peplums can help give off an illusion of a well defined waistline. Wearing a belt can also give off that same effect.

When dressing an hourglass figure, avoid bulky and boxy styles. Sport lighter fabrics with less detailing in the bust area. Also, choose outfits that accentuate your waistline.

My Favorite Fashion Styles for Work

I hope you find these style tips helpful. They’ve have certainly worked for me. Lawd knows having a pear shape has many challenges.

For example, finding the right dress size can be tough. If I choose something to accommodate my larger bottom half, my top half is swimming in extra fabric. I opt for a-line dresses and stretchy fabrics that fit my bust line, while providing breathing room for my lower half. Similarly, finding a watch that fits well can be tricky, but I prefer customizable options like Durable Fabric Straps.

Wrap dresses are also my favorite style choice. I normally wear solid colors, but I’ve experimented with patterns that work just fine. If the fabric appears too bulky, I wear a belt to cinch my waistline for a curvier appearance.

Separates are also a great way to go. I’m able to rock a smaller top with a larger bottom for my size. There are times when I find amazing fashion items at a discounted price. But, they don’t have my size. I buy it anyway and get it altered at a later date. I refuse to pass up a good deal.
