I’ve been researching ways to safely dye natural hair and came across Naturtint Hair Dye. I was a bit apprehensive at first because aside from trying Henna at home, I’ve never tried an at home box dye. Some would question why I didn’t just go to a salon, but learning about my natural hair means trying different things on my own. By doing so, I can see and feel how my naturally kinky 4c hair reacts to color.
Easy Steps to Safely Dye Natural Hair
There’s actually science to dying natural hair. Believe it or not, there are some common mistakes people often make when coloring their hair, and I’ve seen a lot of that growing up.
For example, the color test. I’ve never heard of testing a part of your skin and hair to rule out any allergic reactions. I remember women coloring their tresses for the first time at the salon. The stylist didn’t ask about allergies or suggested a color test. Some would also dye their hair the same day they were getting a relaxer, which is an absolute no no.
To Safely Dye Natural Hair, no two hair types are alike. In other words, my 4c hair may take 30 minutes to absorb color, while someone else may need 40 minutes. These are just a few examples of some common mistakes people make when it comes to hair dyes.
I should preface by saying that I was not paid to endorse this product; just giving my honest opinion and hope that it can help other naturals.
I purchased the Naturtint brown black color on Amazon. It’s completely plant based and doesn’t not have harsh chemicals like ammonia. It has plant seed oils and essential oils that moistures, while mico-pigments penetrate each strand.
I did a color test on the back of my ear prior to dying my hair. I also made sure my hair was clean to ensure better absorption. After applying the dye to my hair, I followed up with the three step process. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Turns out, it’s not so hard at all to Safely Dye Natural Hair.
