Protein treatment is a great way to strengthen hair strands. The protein attaches to follicles and penetrates cuticle layers.
I don’t frequent the beauty salon much, but I normally get my protein treatments there. Since personal care businesses are closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, now is time to take matters into my own hands.
I’ve made protein treatments in the past. But this time, I wanted to focus on combining strength with moisture.
DIY Protein Treatment Recipe
Here are some simple ingredients you can find in your refrigerator or pantry to make a protein treatment.
1 Medium avocado
Avocado is rich with vitamins A, B6, D, and E. It’s also has protein, amino acids, folic acid, magnesium, iron, and copper. Avocado Benefits for Hair Avocado moisturizes hair Promotes hair growth Protects against damage and dryness Improves hair shine.
1/2 Banana
It adds moisture to dry hair and also improves elasticity. It’s rich in potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium and protein which can nourish the hair restoring it back to health.
1 Tablespoon Honey
Honey smooths the hair follicles, and adds shine and moisture to hair.
1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
(EVOO); it’s the highest-quality olive oil. It’s unrefined and hasn’t been treated with chemicals or heat. EVOO is made in a particular way that allows the oil to retain more the olives’ natural vitamins and minerals.
2 Eggs
Eggs strengthen hair and promotes growth. The yolk is packed with biotin, folate, vitamin A, and vitamin D.
I left the conditioner in for about a half hour and also sat under the dryer for an additional 15 minutes. Then, followed up with my usual hair routine.
