What We’ve Learned as Sports Parents: The Truth Behind the Sidelines

When our kids first laced up their sneakers and stepped onto the court, we had no idea what we were getting into. Like many parents, we just wanted to support their passion, keep them active, and cheer them on from the sidelines. What we didn’t realize was that we were also stepping into a new role—sports parents.

And let us tell you: it’s a role that comes with a learning curve.

That’s why we launched our new series, What We’ve Learned as Sports Parents—to pull back the curtain and share the real-life lessons, highs and lows, and sometimes laugh-out-loud moments we’ve experienced while raising young athletes.

The Lessons Are Bigger Than the Game

Sure, we’ve learned how to pack the perfect game-day bag, how to navigate tryouts and team politics, and how to survive tournament weekends with grace (and snacks). But we’ve also learned so much more:

For the Moms, Dads & Guardians in the Trenches

This series is for anyone walking this journey—whether you’re a veteran sports parent or just getting started. If you’ve ever juggled schedules, navigated coach dynamics, or comforted a teary kid after a tough game, you’re in the right place.

We’re not experts—we’re just in it with you. And every episode is a chance to reflect, grow, and connect as a community.
