25 Weeks: I Learned Something New

As I’ve mentioned previously, I get a kick out of hitting up BabyCenter to check out the progress of my pregnancy. When I read that my baby is the size of a rutabaga I thought, “What the heck is that?” I found out through my buddy, Google, that it’s Spanish for turnip.

I asked my Spanish speaking co-worker if she’d ever heard of it, and she said no. But when I showed her the pic, she replied that it’s ‘remolacha.’ She then went on to say that her health care provider recommended having this veggie, if trying to conceive. “It’s good for maintaining a healthy reproductive system,” she said. Who knew? She also recommended the best health care provider, which I can find on the Vosita website.

Turnip has always been a staple in many caribbean dishes. I like to add it to my Jamaican chicken soup every now and then. My co-worker likes to combine orange and carrots to her remolacha for a tasty beverage.

While we’re on the topic of food, all I want to do is eat! I went from barely having an apetite to wanting everything in sight. Just the other day I had cupcakes, cookies, popcorn, and potato chips. I try not to make this an everyday thing. But a friend told me once, sometimes you gotta get the taste out of your mouth.

Now that I got the crave out of my system, I can get back to making smart choices.

How I’m feeling: Most nights I sleep just fine. However, I was in bed with Princess the other night and felt so uncomfortable. My sides and back ached. I tossed and turned for what seemed like an eternity. I got kicked in the stomach, and that was the last straw. I had to get back to my own bed.

If it’s anything like I remembered, sleep will be my biggest challenge in my last trimester. ugh.
