I’m 27 weeks pregnant. Here’s what I love about my second trimester
It seems like this baby is getting bigger by the minute at 27 weeks. It’s now the size of a head of cauliflower, measuring over 14 inches long and almost three pounds.
How I’m feeling: I had a much needed break from work, which allowed me time to get some rest. My stomach upset stomach made it hard for me to stand up. I also haven’t had much relief from the pressure I mentioned before. The feeling has gotten even stronger. The doctor insisted that this was normal, and advised me to take it easy. However, my last appointment confirmed what I thought along – this baby is growing!
The 4D sonogram also revealed that the baby is in a weird position, with the head fixed on my right side and the feet below my rib cage. I’m hoping that she/he will find her/his way in the birthing position soon.
What I’ve enjoyed most about my second trimester:
1. My baby moving! Despite my complaining, I’ve enjoyed feeling every kick and flutter these last few months. It just let me know that my baby has been developing just fine.
2. Energy! There were moments that I felt exhausted. But for the most part, I’ve had more energy than I did during my first trimester.
3. Getting my appetite back! I could barely eat anything during my first few months of pregnancy. Everything grossed me out. It’s been great being able to satisfy my cravings again.
4. Wearing regular clothes. I’ve enjoyed being able to wear my non-maternity tops and dresses. As this baby grows, I’ll probably have to give into rocking more maternity outfits. But, I’m hoping to avoid buying new items. We’ll see…
5. Not looking pregnant. Don’t get me wrong. I love being pregnant. But sometimes the attention can get overwhelming. I don’t mind (most) comments and questions. However, I like to fly under the radar from time to time.
With my second trimester now behind me, I can now look forward to joys of my third trimester. I know there will be challenges. But at least I’ll be closer to meeting my little one.
