We’ve been on a Disney kick lately. Princess and I enjoy watching the movies and trying out Disney hairstyles on her curly hair. We gave the Minnie Mouse buns a try the other day, and we decided with stick to that theme. So for our Curly Hairstyle of the Week, we tackled the Minnie Mouse bow.
1. We used a little Argan Oil
2. Using an elastic, make a high ponytail.
3. Then separate the hair into two sections with the smallest in the front. The smaller piece will be used to make the center of the bow.
4. The fuller back section is what you’ll use to make the actual bow. Start by separating the back into two parts.
5. Using your two pointer fingers, roll each back section starting from the ends of the hair to the base of the ponytail. Then secure each side with Bobby pins.
6. Adjust each side until you get the bow shape you want.
7. For the final step, take the smaller piece of hair in the front and roll it from the front to back. Secure with bobby pins in the front and back.
This style will take about 10-15 minutes depending on your skill level. Princess has fine back length hair in it’s natural state. Normally, I’d go through spraying and detangling her hair first. But in this case, I only sprayed a little water at the roots before adding the Argan oil.
This helped with smoothing the hair into a ponytail. The rest of her hair was dry. I moisturized and braided her hair the night before, so it wouldn’t be too tangled in the morning. Plus, the braids helped in stretching her tresses out a bit.
We are pleased with the final look. The Bobby pins are key in securing the style – the more the merrier. Princess can’t wait to rock this style when she meets Minnie Mouse.
