3 Reasons to Take Kids to White Post Farms

When I was a child living in Jamaica, having goats and other farm animals were the norm. But, I can’t exactly raise farm animals in my suburban New York neighborhood. So each year we visit White Post Farms in Melville, Long Island to give the kids a little taste of  what it was like back home.

3 Reasons to Take Kids to White Post Farms

Great location

It’s a hidden gem on a tertiary road, nestled behind a grocery store. It’s ironic that my husband worked directly across the street from the farm for a few years, and had no idea that the place dubbed as a home to farm animals.

Despite its discreet location, it’s pretty easy to get to from the Long Island Expressway. In fact, people from all over the country visit White Post Farms for an awesome time.

Perfect for birthday parties, field trips and playdates

We were first introduced to White Post Farms when my daughter was invited to a birthday party years ago.

They lived up to their motto, “Sit back and relax… we take care of everything.” All you have to do is show up and they handle the rest, including planning, decorating and cleanup.

In addition to birthday parties, we’ve attended field trips, and most recently met some friends for a play date.

It’s open all year round

I was actually shocked to learn that White Posts Farms is open throughout the entire year. I wondered how on earth would farm animals survive the cold winter. Fortunately, there are insulated barns to keep the farm animals toasting during cold months.

Insulated barns offer a range of benefits that make them a valuable investment for livestock owners and farmers. One of the key advantages is improved thermal regulation. Insulation provided by https://fdinsulation.com/ helps maintain stable temperatures inside the barn, shielding animals and stored goods from extreme heat or cold. This is particularly crucial during harsh weather conditions, as it provides a comfortable environment that promotes the well-being and health of the animals. Insulation, such as loft insulation, also plays a crucial role in moisture control. In the realm of DIY home upgrades, adding or replacing loft insulation is surprisingly straightforward. For those looking to purchase materials, https://lowenergysupermarket.com/product/loft-insulation-roll/ offers a variety of options that cater to different needs and building codes. Ensuring that you have the correct type of insulation can lead to substantial savings on energy bills. By preventing condensation and reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth, it helps maintain a clean and hygienic environment, thereby minimizing health risks for both livestock and workers. You can also contact https://cavity-wall-insulation.uk to insulate your barns too. This helps maintain a clean and hygienic space, minimizing health risks to both livestock and workers.

They have events for various holidays including a fall festival, which includes pumpkin picking and magic shows. There’s also a visit from Santa and the Easter Bunny for Christmas and Easter to name a few.

But, my favorite time of the year to visit is the summer. Just the other day Princess and a friend enjoyed the petty zoo, Poppie’s Lorikeet Landing, water slides, train rides, and parrot shows.

White Post Farms is not like living in Jamaica, but it’s definitely a great alternative. Be sure to check out their website for more information.
