Success Caribbean Style Interview
When Kingsley Grant asked me for an interview on his podcast, Success Caribbean Style, I couldn’t say no. The podcast is dedicated to helping people overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. Kingsley and I instantly connected like two old friends getting reacquainted.
At first I wondered, what on earth do I have to offer? But then I thought about my journey of moving to the United States from Jamaica, and facing the challenge of assimilating into the American culture. It’s hard to believe how far I’ve come.
I went from a shy little island girl with a thick Jamaican accent struggling to fit in. Now after all these years, I’ve overcome so many obstacles and I’m proud of all that I’ve accomplished, including a beautiful family and wonderful career.
But after spending many years in the US, there was a time when I wanted to return home. I talk about buying a one-way ticket back to Jamaica and contemplating starting over in the interview.
In addition to discussing childhood memories, I also share tips on how to pursue and achieve your dreams. We also talk about overcoming the odds of being female of color in the TV industry, raising biracial children, and pursuing meteorology. I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities that has come my way. I hope that my story can inspire others.
