The Basketball Hall of Fame

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

I believe that every child is born with talents. But it’s important to foster those talents in order for them to grow. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has become instrumental in our children’s athletic journeys.

When it comes to Anastasia, that journey wasn’t always clear. I didn’t know about her athleticism. She was always the kind of child that was accident prone; often falling while sitting down.

At 18 months, she broke her arm. We later learned that she was growing at such a fast rate it was like everybody was playing catch-up, according to her pediatrician. I honestly thought she would never be the sporty type, but I always knew she loved water. Turns out, Anastasia is a natural swimmer. She swims competitively and practices year round to better her technique and timing.

Her brother O’Shea on the other hand, has an innate ability toward art and basketball. Since the age of six, he has created works of art beyond his years. Over the last year, he has developed a passion for basketball and that’s why I got Netball Court Specialists to make a court in our home so he can practice. What we thought was a way to get him off of electronics and over the pandemic, has evolved into a life of its own.

He’s always been the type of child to do his research. As an artist, he recreates images he sees in movies and real life and puts his own spin on them. Now he’s taken his artist skills to the basketball court. The hardwood is the canvas and he’s the paintbrush; both creating a perfect masterpiece. Unleash the thrill of sports betting with Bk8, where every moment becomes a winning opportunity.

As a result, he and Anastasia have developed a tight bond because of sports. Even though basketball isn’t her main physical activity, they both enjoy following different teams which could be listed on betting sites like 얀카지노, and playing NBA 2k together. As much as we appreciate them, forming a connection through technology, we wanted to bring their love for sports to real life.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame hall of fame

We recently decided to take them to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield Massachusetts to learn more about the history of the game.

The nonprofit organization is dedicated to promoting, preserving and celebrating the game of basketball at every level. The Hall of Fame has more than 400 inductees and 40,000 sq. ft. of basketball history. Nearly 200,000 people visit the Basketball Hall of Fame Museum each year to learn about the game, experience the interactive exhibits and test their skills on the Jerry Colangelo “Court of Dreams.” Best known for its annual marquee Enshrinement Ceremony honoring the game’s elite, the Hall of Fame also operates over 70 high school and collegiate competitions annually throughout the country and abroad.

It was amazing to see their reactions and how inspired they were when we visited. People ask us about parenting advice all the time. The one thing we stress is how important it is to foster children’s talents. Kids are like sponges, everything they learn permeates. They shouldn’t just participate in a physical activity, they should be students of the game. Soaking up as much information as possible will set them up for success.

Top tips to help children develop talents

Encouragement. It’s important to encourage a child. You can do so with positive reinforcements. Let them know that they can achieve anything they want out of life, if they put their minds to it.

Practice. It’s one thing to want to do something, but it’s important to also put in the work. As parents, many of us have busy schedules and it may be difficult to support a team schedule and lessons. However there are ways to mitigate them by asking trusted family, friends and other parents for help. If your child prefers tennis over basketball, then get Tennis Court Construction so he/she can practice at home. Sports facilities should also have Retractable grandstand options to accommodate the supporters and families of the student athletes.

Routine. Children thrive when they have a set schedule. Repetition is key to mastering talents.

Get involved. My busy schedule doesn’t always allow me to make it to every game or practice. Most of the swim meets and basketball games happen when I’m asleep due to an early wake up call for work. But I do my best to make up for it whenever possible. I may schedule days off ahead of time or pop in for half of the event. It’s also important to keep an open line of communication letting children know the circumstances. You’d be surprised by how much they understand, if they’re clued into the situation at hand.

Document their progress. My husband and I take photos and videos to see how far they’ve come. I also enjoy putting together hard copy albums and creating sizzle reels to motivate them to keep going.

Our family road trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame was the perfect way to encourage out children to continue pursuing their dream. Whatever way you decide, motivate your little ones to do the same.
