Acro Gymnastics Challenge

My family and I enjoy friendly competition like board games and physical activities. Now that summer is here, we love spending more time exercising outdoors. In fact, we recently came up with the idea of a daddy daughter acro gymnastics challenge.

It’s a perfect way to get a good workout in while having quality family time. Princess is always practicing her dance moves, and her Dad decided to join her.

Acro Gymnastics Challenge Tutorial

If you’d like to put together your own acro gymnastics challenge, make sure you have a mat or a soft surface to land on. You don’t want to do is hurt yourself.

The second thing you’ll need is a camera to record the the challenge. I encourage you to document this experience. If your little one takes acro or gymnastics, it’s helpful to track her progress. Most importantly, you want to hold on to it as a memory keepsake.

Finally, the last thing you need is a positive attitude. I’ve always believed that laughter is the best medicine. My husband is a good sport and is always up for fun activities like this. We couldn’t stop laughing throughout the acro gymnastics challenge.

Daddy Daughter Acro Gymnastic Moves

They began with the forward roll – a basic acro gymnastic move. As you can see, it’s pretty easy to do.

Next up was the cartwheel. Daddy has been practicing his cartwheel and felt good about his technique.

The third challenge was the bridge walk. Each opponent laid down with their backs on the mat and placed the palm of their hands with fingers pointed toward their legs. They lifted the bodies off of the mat and walked across using their hands and feet.

The bridge walk was followed by the foot to head touch, and the key to doing this move is flexibility. In order to the correct way, you must get down in a dog like position and kick up with you leg and touch your head.

The next move was the handstand. As you can see in the video, this was probably the most difficult move of all. It was tough to determine who won. Princess did great, but her Dad took this challenge a step further and we gave him credit for his effort.

The leg extension is about having balance and flexibility. You have to lift and hold your leg in a standing position for as long as you can hold it. As you can see, both parties struggled a little bit.

The last challenge was the Scorpion, which is one of Princess signature dance moves. It’s similar to the leg extension, however, instead lifting your leg in the front, you have to lift your leg from the back. It’s pretty obvious that Daddy struggled a bit with this one.

What’s your favorite family pastime? Have you ever taken part in any kind of challenge?
