My Baby is sick and I am stressing out!

I’m sure a lot of you parents out there can relate to sick children.  It’s even worse when they’re babies.  They can’t vocalize their pain.  My Princess has been sick with a bad chest cold for a few days now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.  The worse part is that she got this cold from her mom.  It sucks!!

The weird thing is that despite being sick, she’s still her happy self!  Her teacher included a little note on her infant gram stating that she still had a blast, even though she coughed a lot.  It shows how much of a trooper my little baby is.

Like any other day, I dressed her up for daycare and took some cute snapshots of her outside.  I know, I am totally obsessed with catching every precious moment possible.  But, I couldn’t pass it up.  It was such a nice day!

Now I feel so guilty because I gave her this horrible cough.  It took almost two weeks for it to get better, and I’m just hoping it won’t be the same for her.  Well, I hope the doctor has good news.  I’ll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Do NOT feel bad–trust me, she will pass along to you her fair share of colds & flus! 🙂

Besides, although it’s not pretty, her immune system is building up a tolerance. Better to do it at a young age so she can be strong and resilient later on.

Have you tried Vicks Vaporub? A humidifier in her room to help with the sleeping at night? Teaching her how to blow her nose on a wet nap (easier on her nose)?

In my experience the best to do is to constantly get the mucus out (clearing the nose, hot baths at night, hot tea and/or chicken soup). Also important b/c if they rub their noses and then their eyes, it often leads to an eye infection!

My kids are with me now in the UK, they caught a cold and since the medicines are different here I’m going thru the learning curve all over again. But with the mucus clearing, hot baths & lots of sleep, their cold barely lasted a week.

Good luck & best wishes! 🙂

Thanks for the well wishes guys! I actually took her to see the doc today and it turns out she has an upper respiratory infection. Hey, it could be worse. She’s on antibiotics and should be better soon. Huberto, my mom taught her how to cough, but how can I teach her how to blow her nose? That would make things much easier! Besides the antibiotics I’ve been using saline, warm bath, vicks, and steam. I guess I’ll break out the humidifier again.

I can’t take credit for teaching my kids to blow their nose, that was all mommy…but she started playfully exhaling forcefully (making a funny face, and you know the sound when you’re blowing your nose is kinda funny). Once they start copying then you do it again w/a wet nap or hankie over YOUR nose first, then they start copying you…and voila! They start blowing their nose!

I love this pic of your daughter–she’s got the most adorable little baby toes!! 🙂
