I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I feel like Fort Knox. I’ve been so constipated for the past few weeks.
19 Weeks Pregnant
I’ve been keeping track of my little one’s growth via BabyCenter. I love how they compare the baby’s growth using fruits and veggies. It’s simply just a guide that I follow, meaning it’s not 100% accurate.
My sweet pea is about the size as an heirloom tomato and around 8 1/2 ounces. But, based on my last sonogram, the doc said my baby is just under a pound and almost ten inches long. He or she should be able to hear my voice. So, I better start talking. I’ll save the singing for the professionals.
How I’m feeling: Constipated! It’s like Fort Knox! I’ve tried everything from drinking gallons of water to eating lots of fruits and veggies containing fiber. Nothing works! It’s been so bad that it’s affected my eating. It’s one of those weird moments when you know you’re hungry, but you feel stuffed. My doc gave me some recommendations, which has since helped my situation. Thank goodness!

Get moving. The more active you are, the more active your intestines are. Going for a walk or a light jog (if possible) can help to get your bowels moving.
Supplements. The natural way is always the best way to go. But if nothing else works, you may have to try supplements. My doctor recommended Colace, which softens the stool alleviating constipation.
Patience. It may take a little while, but you’ll eventually go. Don’t be too hard on yourself. This is what pregnancy is all about. Your body will go through changes. It’s only temporary.
