Balancing Hair Care and Motherhood

I thought life was hectic with one. Try two! I barely have time to go to the bathroom, much less do my hair. This is the best I can do as far as balancing hair care and motherhood.

I am glad you posted this because I am having a hard time taking care of my hair and I only have one. I am tex-laxed and only get my hair done once every 17-weeks so I end up with a ponytail just about every day and that’s not good for my hair. I decided to start using the green house effect method again to see if it’ll help with my growth now that I am past the postpartum shedding phase.

Your hair is cute! To take this look to the next level separate the braids more and lift the roots with a pick and you will have yourself a fierce braid out.

Keep it simple DC once a week like Friday nights, put conditioner on, plastic shower cap, scarf and hit the sheets. In the morning wash and twist or braid and air dry or wig up. When dry or when you desire take twist or braids out and go. Or simply keep this or a similar routine.

Your hair is growing and loos good, your definition is the business.

Love that Shea Moisture mask as well! My first go around transitioning and having a newborn I couldn’t transition successfully, but this go around is going much better. Having more time to figure out my hair helps!

Pretty cool! Many have the same problem as you and it is indeed helpful to find ways to cut some time spent on keeping the hair in good condition.

Great Post! I have no children yet, but am planning this coming year. I big chopped on March 20, 2013 after transitioning from relaxed hair last year.. I am now 6 months fully natural and am loving every moment of it. Your hair is gorgeous, your twist out looks so defined.. I have the same water bottle (lol) I mix my water with aloe vera juice. I have a very simple regimen and not much of a product junkie. But there are lots of vids, forums, blogs, etc.. where you can go on for lots of info and tips.

Thanks Lena! I remember you mentioning that your were planning to transition, but wanted to wait a while. I’m not a product junkie either. The main product that I love using is the kinky curly knot today. It’s great for me and my daughter. I love checking out vlogs for different ideas.

The styling process takes days for me, too! I have two girls, 3 and 11 months, so I can’t spend a whole day doing my hair anymore. What has worked well for me was washing, and detangling with a cheapie conditioner and leaving it in. I would put my hair in twists (kind of chunky–in a time crunch usually!) using that conditioner and then when I get a chance, rinse it out or co-wash (depending on how many days have passed), then proceed to style. It’s already in sections, so I can just do what I want to it, whether its breaking each twist into two smaller twists or braids, or blowdrying each section.
