I’m a proud mama of two lovely kids. It has always been my dream to have a family. But, let’s face it-going from life without kids to life with kids has been an interesting transition. Drawing inspiration from NickMom’s campaign #Motherfunny, I’m able to see the humor in the many challenges I face as a parent.
For starters – This mama had a pretty hot pre-baby body. That was then…
And this is now…
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not overweight by any stretch of the imagination. However, these stretch marks along with this tire around my waist won’t seem to go away no matter how much cardio and crunches I do!
As far as my little munchkins go, they are the light of my life. I’d do anything to protect them, and their happiness means the world to me. But, I often reminisce about the times their Daddy and I were able to just get up and go. Those were the days when date nights meant dinner at a quaint restaurant followed by a movie. This illustration from nickmom.com depicts our lives to a tee.
Nowadays, we eat at family friendly restaurants only. Naptime for our three-year-old is usually a requirement to ensure that there are no meltdowns during dinner.
When it comes to my three-month-old, he’s the best baby ever! I’m not just saying it because he’s my son. He’s always smiling and has the most contagious laugh. Heck, he even waits patiently while I do my makeup; something his Dad and big sis have a hard time doing. But, this sweet angel is quite the character. In fact, this smooth operator has taken over Mommy and Daddy’s bed!
It’s been months since my hubby and I have slept in the same room. I can’t remember the last time we had sex for goodness sake. Not only has our bed been taken over, the whole house has been too. We’ve even tried to schedule a secret rendezvous a little over a month ago which didn’t go too well. The plan was to have dinner at a fancy restaurant, and then head to a secret location for some alone time.
Dinner went off without a hitch, but as for the second part of our date… Let’s just say, the kids struck again. When I called to check in with my mom, who had been babysitting, I knew the evening would end early. She asked me when we were coming home, which was actually code for – “Please save me!”
Despite being driven nuts by these two little munchkins, I love being a mom. This is our new normal, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now let’s take a trip down memory lane. You can read captions by clicking on the thumbnails. Enjoy!

Okay, cutest baby award goes to your three month old! Your babies are precious. I don’t have children yet, but I can definitely relate to changes in my body and random activities with my honey over the years. More responsibilities and age surely has changed things around here, lol!

Oh, honey, don’t I know about the gut now!! LOL I have 3 kids, and when I look at what my body USED to look like, I want to spank myself for not enjoying the sexy 28 year old body! HA! You’re still beautiful 🙂 And your kids are adorable! P.S. I’m about to work on my own #motherfunny, although I don’t think I’m as brave to post pics of my gut! LOL

You’re SO GORGEOUS! OMG it’s not even fair. In that “before” picture, your waist is like as big around as my THIGH. Girl! I feel you on the early date nights. My husband and I KNOW that we have to be up early in the morning with our three kids and Great Dane puppy, that we’re usually on the way home by 10. It’s really pathetic. I can’t wait for the youngest two to be in school! #client

That’s the key word, “before.” lol. That body is long gone. lol. I know exactly what you mean. We are full throttle all day with our kids.

Great pics!
