What I Love Most About Christmas

I can’t lie. The holidays are stressful. I don’t mean to sound like a scrooge. But trying to keep up with buying presents, taking photos, and figuring out plans for the holidays can be brutal. My face is throbbing with anxiety as I type this because I know that I still have a bunch of gifts to buy and presents to wrap.  All that said, there are some pretty enjoyable moments. What I love most about Christmas is seeing how excited our kids get.

Technically, this is Young O’s second Christmas. Even though he really doesn’t know what’s going on, he feeds off of his sister’s energy. Every day she asks, “When is it gonna be Christmas?” “Not until Thursday,” I’d tell her.

Each year we talk about the meaning of the holiday, wrap presents, bake cookies for Santa, and take holiday pictures. I love how much Princess enjoys these activities.

Even though I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back and soak in the scene. The Christmas tree all lit up, the holiday decorations, and the smiles on my kids faces put things into perspective.
