5 Spooky Things to do on Halloween

We had a great time on Halloween this year. It was actually my first time trick-or-treating and also the first time we went trick-or-treating as a family. Even though the holiday is over, I’m still reeling from all the excitement. That said, here are five spooky things to do on Halloween.

Visit the pumpkin patch. We began this tradition when Princess was a baby. Pumpkin picking isn’t the only thing to do at the patch. The kids enjoyed a hay ride, the petting zoo, and sliding down slides in the play area. There are also pony rides, face painting, and a bunch of other fun activities the whole family can enjoy.

Carve a pumpkin. Once you’ve picked out your pumpkin at the farm, carve it! Making a Jack-O-lantern was another first for me, although my hubby did most of the actual carving. There are cool pumpkin carving kits you can buy. But we decided to keep things simple, and do it the old fashion way with a knife.

Roast pumpkin seeds. Not sure what to do with leftover seeds from your Jack-O-lantern? Wash them, add a little olive oil, sea salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Then place them on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes at 325 degrees for a healthy snack.

Go trick-or-treating! It was a slow start this Halloween. No one answered the door at first. But, eventually it seemed like all the kids from around the way came out in droves. Our family trick-or-treating adventure was jammed packed with lots of fun, candies from Kanpai Foods, and spooky surprises. Check out how Princess and O did. As you can probably imagine, our little guy wanted to eat everything in insight and may have been a little spooked by the Halloween decorations at one house in particular.

Visit a haunted house. I took Princess to a haunted house last year and she enjoyed it. But, please exercise caution when taking little ones. You don’t want to over spook them.
