Shamrock Hairstyle on Curly Biracial Hair

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we decided on a cute shamrock hairstyle on curly biracial hair. As I’ve mentioned, my husband and I like teach our kids about their identity, which includes our Irish background. This is a great way to make our Curly Hairstyle of the Week a learning experience for our 5-year-old.

St. Patrick’s Day is all about the big parade, drinking, and celebrating the Irish culture. But most people may not know that the holiday is named after St. Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland. The day also celebrates the beginning of Christianity in Ireland, in addition to the culture and heritage of Ireland.

As tradition would have it, St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity, representing God as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. I thought it would be a great idea to explain this to Princess and create a shamrock hairstyle in honor of the holiday.

Items used:

Wide tooth comb

Rat-tail comb

Bobby pins

Green ribbon

Shamrock accessory

Elastic bands

Hair Tie

Directions

1. Make sure hair is fully detangled and moisturized.

2. Using a hair tie, make a ponytail.

3. Separate ponytail into two sections.

4. Divide the top section into three smaller sections.

5. Add an elastic band about an inch of the way down from the base of the pony tail.

6. Then gently pull the elastic and thread the green ribbon through. Please note: If using a ribbon or any hair accessory, make sure it won’t pull or dry out curls. The ribbon I used has a smooth satin finish.

7. Once you’ve added the ribbon, divide section in two parts and braid each section, securing with an elastic near the end.

8. Repeat the process with the remaining sections.

9. Take each section and create a heart shape and secure with an elastic.

10. Once you have your clover shape, you can pin each of them down to make it easier to work with.

11. Gather the hair into a ponytail and remove pins.

12. Feel free to accessorize. You can also leave curls hanging free or braid.
