The last time Princess did tornado in a bottle experiment, Youtube viewers didn’t respond so well. On the one hand I’m like, she’s only four – give this little girl a break. Then I think to myself, this is good. I’m all about keeping it real and I can certainly appreciate people being upfront (as long as they’re respectful). That said, Princess decided to give this science experiment another try.
How to Make a Tornado in a Bottle
As I explain before, this DIY tornado project is pretty simple to do. The last time we used a bottle and filled it more than 3/4 full of water, glitter, dish soap, and a stick. I’ve seen this same science experiment done before and the tornado was visible.
However for some reason, we couldn’t see it so well on camera. So what happens when a science experiment goes wrong? You do it again until you get it right, of course.
The first step in mimicking this natural disaster is using two bottles instead of one. Princess had a hard time with using one bottle and enlisted help from her dad the first time around. Using two bottles with a connecting ring was a little tough at first for her, but with practice she mastered it. So if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.
Here’s a look at how it turned out. Please subscribe to her Youtube channel, My Fun Princess Life and give this video a thumbs up.
While you’re at it, now would be a great time to speak with your little ones about natural disasters like tornadoes and what to do in case it happens.
We talked about tornado safety tips including, going down into the basement and staying away from the windows. Getting into a bathtub can also help save your life during a tornado too.
The bathroom has strong framing and the pipes in the walls could help hold them together. But you should make sure to have a pillow, cushion, or blanket to protect yourself from debris (especially if there’s window close by).
Let us know if you decide to give this a try and any other experiments you want her to do.
