Healthy quick breakfast meals packed with nutrients are essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. With summer winding down, that means school is just around the corner. Needless to say, our mornings are about to get pretty busy.
Our son will be attending preschool and his big sis will be heading off to first grade in September. The plan is to get them ready for school in about an hour in the morning.
As the saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That said, I’ve managed to come up with a plan to make sure they’re getting everything they need to kick off the school year right.
Healthy Quick Breakfast Meals With SmartyPants
I was recently introduced to SmartyPants multivitamins. It has everything your family needs to maintain good health.
SmartyPants are all-in-one complete gummy vitamins that combine nutrients like omega 3s, soluble fiber, vitamins D3 + B12 that we sometimes don’t get on a daily basis.
The vitamins are non-GMO and made with organic sweeteners and eco-friendly ingredients. They contain no synthetic colors, artificial flavors, sweeteners or preservatives.
Unlike gummy fruit snacks, SmartyPants has a lot less sugar and doesn’t stick to your teeth as much. My kids consider them a yummy sweet treat that’s actually good for them too.
Staying on a healthy track is our main goal because let’s face it; as the mercury drops, so does our immune system. As parents, our main concern is taking caring of the kids as well as ourselves. Smartypants also makes men and women vitamins.
When it comes to taking multivitamins, the pediatrician recommends that the kids take it around the same time each day. So, I figured I’ll kill two birds with one stone.
Since we’re short on time in the mornings, I like to prepare most meals the night before. The kids will usually have toast with a side of fruit, pancakes, or homemade oatmeal.
They have no problem making their own toast. If they’re having pancakes, I’ll make the batter before bedtime. If they’re having oats, I’ll also make that the previous night in order to cut preparation time in half the following morning.
Our healthy quick breakfast meal is topped off with a serving of SmartyPants multivitamins and they’re good to go.
Easy Homemade Gluten Free Oatmeal Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup of quick cooked gluten free raw oats
2 cups of rice milk (regular milk is fine too)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of Nutmeg
½ cup raw cane sugar
Directions
Pour rice milk in a medium size pot and add in oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I prefer using rice milk because of our sensitivity to dairy.
If using regular milk, it tends to stick a bit more so make sure you’re constantly stirring the pot. You won’t have to stir as much with rice milk.
Keep oatmeal on low heat and allow to cook for about twenty minutes. If you prefer a thick consistency (like I do), allow it to cook a bit longer. If you see bubbles begin to form and pop at the surface, then you know it’s ready. Add in sugar and sweeten to taste.
Top it off with a serving of SmartyPants multivitamins for a power packed breakfast. Once the kids are done with their meal, they brush their teeth, get dressed, and head off to school.
