Summer-to Fall-Fashion Tips

I love summer-to fall-fashion. As we transition from one season to another, putting together the right wardrobe essentials is key to braving the changing weather pattern. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Layer your outfits. The nights and early mornings are usually cool but the afternoons are warm. Add layers to your wardrobe to stay comfy at night, and peel them away during the day to stay cool. Stylishly transition summer tanks into fall fashion by layering with a cardigan or faux leather jacket.

Keep rocking summer fashions in fall. There’s no need to put shorts, tanks, and summer dresses away just yet. With the changing seasons come fluctuating temperatures. A summer-like day in New York during fall is not out of the question.

You can turn a summer look into fall fashion by changing your accessories. Start by trading in sandals for boots, wear tights under skirts and dresses to keep legs warm. Also, wear a scarf around your neck for a seasonably appropriate look. Having a few staples will add warmth and turn your outfits from summer-to fall-fashion.

Summer-to-fall fashion staples to add to your wardrobe

Denim. Whether layering it over a sundress or camisole this season, the sturdy cotton warp-faced textile can give an autumn boost to your summer pieces. In fact, denim-on-denim is a popular trend for the fall. Armoire Style has many options to choose from, so go ahead and experiment with different looks.

Faux leather jacket. Nothing says style like a faux leather jacket. The synthetic material is less durable than leather, but it is environmentally friendly, and adds an edgy feel to any look. Keep in mind that the synthetic material tends to crack and peel over time. Faux leather can last a few years with proper care. Be sure to clean it regularly, avoid harsh chemicals, and keep it away from direct sunlight to help extend its durability. Also, check for care instructions.

I prolonged the life of my faux leather jacket by wiping with a soft damp cloth dampened. I only used warm water and mild soap, and also dried with a soft cloth.

Oversized sweaters. You can pair it with just about anything including jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, summer dresses, or over button down shirts. It adds style and warmth to any outfit.

Cardigan. For me, this layer is a staple all year round, especially in the fall. With the varying temperatures, having this cover up makes things so much easier. While a sweater adds texture and bulk, a cardigan offers a sleeker look. You can slip into it fairly easily without messing up your hairstyle.

Trench coat. This classic piece never goes out of style and is perfect for fall. I’ve had mine for over ten years and still holds up well. You can get them in different colors like beige, navy, red, olive, or black.
