Step 1: Start With a Primer
Once you’ve applied you’re eyeshadow and liner, it’s time to make your lashes pop. Some may choose to make curling their lashes the first step. However, I avoid that like the plague because my eyes are super sensitive. Real talk…lash curlers scare me and with very little time to get my makeup done before work, I go for the quick, easy and safe route. So for now, I leave lash curlers to the professionals.
I begin with a lash primer. There are many on the market that I’ve tried, but my favorite is the Lancôme Cils Booster XL Enhancing Lash & Mascara Primer. It’s infused with Micro-fibers, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E – Boosts Mascara Volume, Length & Curl. This primer evenly coats, conditions and separates my lashes. I like to apply it from base to tip on either side while making sure every eye lash is covered.
Step 2: Apply Mascara
Now that lashes are primed, it’s time to add volume, definition, and length for flawless lashes. Mascara is key to achieving pop to your lashes. When choosing a mascara, I prefer black and normally opt for traditional style brush for easy application. Lancome’s Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara adds up to 12x more volume up to 24 hours of wear, so all it takes is one coat for a dramatic look.
When applying, begin at the root by wiggling the wand at the base and then move it upward to the tip. This will ensure even distribution. For added length and definition, add a second coat after the first one dries slightly. Also, be sure to wipe away excess mascara before application to avoid clumping.
Step 3: Add Faux Lashes (Optional)
If you want some extra va-va-voom, add single strip faux lashes. If I’m going to a casual event, I may go for wispies. For on-camera and special occasions, I may opt for couture lashes for a more glamorous look. When it comes to choosing the right glue to apply lashes, I prefer a dark tone because it blends seamlessly with a black eyeliner.
