I’m always on the hunt for the latest beauty finds for myself, but lately I’ve been searching for the right products for Princess. A couple of other mommy bloggers recommended that I try “It’s a curl.” As I mentioned before, her mane is beginning to come in. As you can tell by the photos below, her hair is straight in the front and at the sides. But, she has some small curls in the back.
I’ve made some bad mistakes in the past, and now I’m extra careful about what I put in Princess’s hair. I chatted with the folks at “It’s a Curl.” They were a huge help in identifying my baby girl’s hair texture, and selected a few products for us to try.
The great thing about this line is that it doesn’t contain harmful ingredients like parabens, sulphates, silicones, mineral oil, or animal by parts. It’s all natural! I received the peek-a-boo tearless shampoo, patty cake baby curl conditioner, ring around the curlies leave in cream, and the itsy bitsy spirals moisturizer. I couldn’t wait to try them out. Each product is very light and doesn’t coat her hair which means no heavy build up. I like the fact that the itsy bitsy spirals moisturizer isn’t greasy. If you do decide to use it, you may need to apply a couple times during the day. Since Princess is always running around, her curls tend to flatten out in the back.
So if your little one has tendrils, you may want to give this line a try. The peeps at “It’s a Curl” will help you find the right product for your baby boy or girl.

Good to know! My daughters hair is very straight right now and well, she doesn’t have much of it- lol. Right now I don’t put any product in it other than baby wash because it get oily on it’s own. Still waiting to see what texture she’ll have…. straight or curly.
When did your daughter’s hair start to curl?
Her hair began curling around 10 months. The longer it gets the curlier. I also notice some bigger curls forming at the top of her head. Funny how her hair is changing.

Her hair is exactly like Lil J’s! If Lil J gets his hair wet they look like jerry curls {sp?} and if I don’t wash it for a couple days, it goes straight. I love it!

So you like the product? I have a son 11 months in a few days and his hair is just like mine. Wavy/curly and very dry. And when it’s dry it looks very hard, but when you touch it, its soft. I use coconut oil the night before I wash his hair, it brings the best out of his wavy curly hair but only for a little while. Looking around for products are hard because it seems like the products are detailed and directed to bi-racial hair and only little girls. I don’t know what to do but i need product help to keep his hair moist. To me it seems like his Johnson and Johnson shampoo dries his hair out terribly. Please give in site if you can. greatly appreciate it 🙂

OMG, stay away from Johnson and Johnson. Even though my daughter is biracial, it completely dried her hair out too. I avoid products with sulfates because that takes out all the misture. It’s a curl is a great line. It doesn’t have all the bad ingredients like sulfates, mineral oil, or parabens. However, it can be a bit pricey. It’s worth it though. THere are some drugs store products that are finally getting with the program and are jumping on the natural bandwagon. The important thing is to read the labels. If you can avoid to splurge, I definitely go with It’s a curl. There is also another line called Cara B that’s ok. As far as maintaining the moisture in my daughter’s hair, I make my own flax seed gel. A friend gave me a recipe. She’s 100% black, and has the same issues we do. I have the recipe on this blog as well. I find that the flax seed gel brings out her natural curls, and seals in moisture. You can also add a few drops of coconut oil.
