My hubby said to me this morning:
“F*** you, I want a divorce if you take castor oil. That thing can hurt the baby!”
“It won’t hurt the baby. I’m full term now,” I said.
“Why don’t you just get drunk and hit the crack pipe too, since you won’t harm the baby!” he responded sarcastically.
“What if the baby comes out all messed up? You’d have to live with that for the rest of your life. All because you wanted to be selfish,” he rambled on.
He’s been reading about the harmful side effects related to taking castor oil to induce labor online, and he’s pretty freaked out. I can’t blame him. But, forty weeks is knocking at my door, and I want to get this baby out! We’ve completed our checklist and everything is ready to go. Now all I need is for labor to happen. But, it hasn’t!
The contractions would start to fire up, and then fizzle out not too long afterwards. I’ve researched natural ways to jump start labor, and also received tips from my OB and friends. I mention them in my recent BabyCenter post.
I’ve gotten comments from other moms about castor oil working for them. But as you can tell by my hubby’s response, he ain’t havin’ it!
I know this baby will come when it comes. I need to be patient. I guess I’m just getting antsy and want to meet this little bugger. But, I wouldn’t want to risk my marriage for the sake of taking castor oil. We’ll just have to keep trying number one on my BabyCenter list. He was all for that!
Have you ever tried natural ways to induce labor?
Have sex…I’m sure he’ll be game for that ! Also, walking…so go shopping 🙂 good luck & God bless!!
Have you heard of stripping membranes? My midwife did it and contractions started on the drive home from the Dr’s office! It might be worth a shot 🙂

My doctor wanted to induce my in my 39th week due to blood pressure issues. I didn’t want that, so all the week before I walked every night with my husband and had sex with him several times. I would have cramps for a bit afterwards, but no baby. The night before my appointment with the doctor to schedule the induction, I had very, very spicy wings for dinner and walked again. When I woke up the next morning to get ready for my appointment, my water broke as I headed into the bathroom! I don’t know if any of those things worked, or if my daughter just came when she was supposed to.
