Thanksgiving Leftovers for Your Hair

People often talk about different ways to make use of Thanksgiving leftovers. I’ve heard everything from using the turkey to make sandwiches and soup. But how about using some of those leftovers on your hair?

The idea came to me when I looked at the slices of avocado left in a bowl after Thanksgiving dinner. It seemed as if everyone forgot it was there. Rather than make it go to waste, I decided to make some conditioner with it.

I combined these ingredients in a mixing bowl:

1 cup of avocado (has essential fatty acids, moisturizing, strength, shine)
1 banana (It’s good for moisturizing hair. In the future I will omit the banana because it was a pain to rinse out)
1 teaspoon of almond oil (has vitamin A, B, D. Also promotes growth, strength, reduces shedding, conditions hair, reduces split ends

1 teaspoon castor oil (also great for strengthening, growth, and reduces shedding)
2 teaspoons Aloe vera gel for curl definition and softness. Also cleanses scalp.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’d see the 16 sec video in which I illustrate how I worked this concoction in with Princess’s hair routine. It took a while to rinse out, but the results were great! It left her hair soft and shiny. I’ll definitely be using this again on our hair, minus the banana.
