5 Strange Mommy Brain Moments Revealed

It’s 12:30 in the afternoon and I’m getting out of the shower when all of a sudden I hear Bon Jovi blaring. My 18-month-old somehow set the alarm to go off in the kids’ bedroom. About 15 minutes later the alarm goes off in our bedroom. He somehow manages to set the clocks everyday day to go off – even after I turn them off. That’s somehow become my daily routine as I prepare to head off to work. Then oddly enough, I reach for my lipstick and apply it to my lips.

As I’m putting it on, I notice something different. I look down and realize that I’ve mistaken my Bobbi Brown stick foundation for my copper colored lipstick. Needless to say, I’ve got foundation all over my mouth. If you think that’s weird, keep reading. I could write a novel on my strange mommy brain moments, but here’s the abridged version.

1. Hot water oatmeal pancake anyone? The water finished boiling and I’m just about ready to make a cup of green tea. I place my delicious oatmeal pancake off to the side and reached for the maple syrup. I look down to find hot water being poured all over my breakfast.

2. We all can admit to forgetting the day of the week, right? But, how about forgetting where you are? The other night while driving home from work, I completely forget which road I’m on!

3. Another groggy morning and I make my way into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I reach for the toothbrush, apply the toothpaste, and begin brushing away. After a while, I notice that something feels different. I look down to find my husband’s toothbrush in my hand.

4. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to go to the grocery store and pick up some essential items. But for me, I might as well be on another planet. My mind goes completely blank and I have no idea what I’m supposed to buy.

5. My homemade oatmeal is a hit with Princess and Young O. If you’re Jamaican, you may know about Foska Oats. While whipping up my tasty recipe, I reach into the pantry for the cinnamon and started adding it to the oatmeal. When I taste it, I notice it has a little kick to it. Further investigation reveals that I added garlic instead of the cinnamon.

I’ve shared my strange mommy brain moments. Now it’s your turn. Whether you’re mom or not, what’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done?
