When it comes to an effective spring routine for curly biracial hair, there are a few things to consider. For starters, mornings are usually a bit chilly with temperatures warming up during the afternoon hours. That said, we’ve come up with best hair products and easy hacks for curly biracial hair for the season.
- Skip the shampoo and co-wash instead. A good moisturizing conditioner is all you need to cleanse curls without stripping away natural oils, which can lead to breakage. Don’t be afraid to pile it on – the more the merrier. Massage the roots and coat the ends.
- Cover with a plastic shower cap for about 10 minutes to allow the conditioner to penetrate each strand.
- Don’t rinse out the conditioner completely. It’s okay to leave a little behind to give your hair added moisture.
- Detangle hair under running water. This is a great hack, especially for those with tight coils. I find it easier to get rid of knots in the shower during the conditioning process. The pressure of the water loosens the tangles making it easier to comb through.
- Avoid brushes. Opt for a wide tooth comb or use your fingers to gently detangle hair.
- Use a t-shirt to pat hair dry to reduce frizzing.
- Pineapple or pile hair into a high loose bun or high pony tail when letting your hair dry. This won’t disrupt the curl shape and cause frizz.
- Use a diffuser attachment to kick start the drying process hair, if short on time. Mornings can be a bit chilly in the spring. Rather than step outside with soaking wet hair, you can use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment for 5-10 minutes. This will get rid of the excess water without ruining the look of your curls. It also adds volume. But make sure to put dryer on medium speed on warm/cool setting.
- Before cleansing, rinse hair with warm water to open hair cuticles allowing moisture to penetrate. When rinsing out the conditioner, use cool water to lock in moisture.
- Follow up with a light oil to further seal in moisture to reduce frizz and prevent breakage. Princess’s hair is pretty light and doesn’t require a lot of product, so a little goes a long way. I, on the other hand, have no problem piling on the oil on my 4c textured tresses. Spring is all about rebirth, rejuvenation, and regrowth. As flowers bloom so does your hair. That’s why it’s super important to take the proper steps in maintaining the overall health of your curls. I hope you find these tips helpful.
