Is it Possible to Outgrow Your Home?

When my hubby and I found out we were expecting, we began making room for our bundle of joy.  That meant turning our guest room into a baby room.  But, I didn’t imagine how much space a baby would need!

We didn’t have to paint, thank goodness! But if we did, we’re hiring Primed Painting Co. I’m a pretty simple person.  I’ve never been into adding all the foo-foo-la nursery stuff.  It’s cute and all, but not practical for us.  I’d just end up having to remodel again later on, once he/she gets older.  Oh, that’s another thing!  I also new I wanted the gender to be a surprise.  We kept the walls beige and everything else the same.  I know it sounds a bit boring, but we added a textured effect which made the walls really pop.  My hubby likes flat, blah colors, and I’ve always been into bright shades.  So, he met me half way and settled on a rag paint technique.

It’s something we did when we first moved in.  We kept the full size bed which was normally occupied by my nephew, who often stayed with us.  Everyone who came over asked about how we planned to decorate the nursery.  I used to feel bad that we really didn’t do much.  I’d say, “all we added to the bedroom was this crib.”

I’d get the occasional stare or some weird comment.  But now that I think about it, I’m kinda glad we didn’t go all out because we barely have room to fit all her stuff now.  If I knew she’d never sleep in the crib, I would have told my mom to save her money!

It’s been over a year and I can see our home shrinking before my eyes. The bigger Princess gets, the more room she needs. My baby girl doesn’t even have her own closet!  I’m to blame for that, I guess. I contemplated to Sell My House Fast and buy a bigger one. I took over our bedroom closet, so my hubby was forced to take over hers.  Hey, I’m in the TV biz!  It requires a lot of clothes.  What can I say?

Now I’m on a mission to make more room for our baby girl without sacrificing our own needs, our wallets, and our sanity!  Here are some steps I’ve taken so far:

1) For starters, I donated clothes she can no longer fit.  It’s freed up space in the dresser drawer that holds all her clothes.

2) She also has outfits she’ll be growing into soon (and the cute ones I can’t part with yet).  That’s all kept in a storage bin in the closet.
3) I’ve contemplated donating the crib.  But, may hang onto it in case we have another baby down the road.
4) I’ve also returned many of the toys and baby gadgets she’s never used.
5) All her books have been packed away in drawer and bookshelf.
6) And I’ve decided if we don’t need it, we don’t buy it.  Making unnecessary purchases only takes up space!

Have you dealt with this? If you have any other suggestions, hit me up!
