Should I Feel Guilty for Wanting to Spend Time Without Kids?

As I mentioned it a previous post, my hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at our daughter’s recital. We had a great time watching her dance and cheering her on. But let’s be real, that wasn’t exactly an ideal way to celebrate. Don’t get it twisted, we love our kids and would do anything for them. However, we need some alone time every now and then too.

As Jackie Collins said, you have to put your husband first. I’m a firm believer in that statement because if things aren’t right between us how can we parent our children? That said, my hubby and I made it our mission to celebrate our special day.

We spent the day together while the kids were away at camp. Grandma picked them up, so there was no rush. We kept it simple, fun, and it was a nice break from the kids.

Should I feel guilty for wanting to spend time without kids? Absolutely not! Every couple need some alone time.
