The Awesome Perks of Being a Work-at-Home Mom

It’s hard to classify myself as a stay-at-home mom because I still have my hand in so many jars. I’m still a freelance meteorologist, and I also work a lot from home. I must say, there are some awesome perks of being a Career Woman who works from home.

The one advantage of being at home is the flexibly. It’s been a few months since I handed in my resignation from my full time job as a weather anchor. Although I do miss working full time, I’m grateful for the time I can now spend with my family.

I’m able to wake up and see my kids and put them to sleep every night. I also volunteer at my daughter’s school and take part in other festivities I normally wouldn’t have had time to attend if I worked a full time job outside of the home.

As it turns out, there are some many other parents who have also done the same. In fact, I ran into the mom of O’s classmate’s at the Day Care Center’s Halloween party. She’s expecting baby number two and is also a work-at-home mom. We had an great conversation of how great it is to have a flexible schedule and attend these types of events.

“If I was still working in an office in t he city, there’s no way I’d be able to come to the party,” she said.

It’s interesting how much times have changed within the last few years. I never would have imagined ever quitting my job to stay home.

Blogging has allowed me an opportunity to make up for some of the lost wages. I can now work from home, and still be here to cook dinner, help with homework, clean among other things. And did you know that there is now no more trade-offs between the comforts of home and the prestige of a business address? Delve into the world of virtual postal addresses and find out more about this unique offering.

Most importantly, I didn’t have to give up my career entirely. I’m still able to freelance as a weather anchor and be there for my family at the same time.

It hasn’t been an easy road, but it’s worked out quite well so far. I’d still embrace any on-air opportunities that come my way and look forward to working full time again. But for now, I’d say that I have the best of both worlds.
